ADVENTURE TOOLS: Spotting Scopes and Binoculars Spotting scope
Materials:
Paper towel tube
Star of David 2 Shalom Scrapper Paper
Glue stick
Scissors or paper trimmer
Twine, yarn, cord or string (about 1 yard per scope)
Directions:
1. Cut a 12"x12" sheet paper to the length of the cardboard tube (probably 11"), then cut in half so that there are two 6"x11"
2. Spread glue on one side of the paper, then wrap the paper around the cardboard tube
3. Cut a contrasting paper about 1" wide x 6". Put a ring of glue around the spotting scope, then wrap paper around the glue to create a band.
4. Put a ring of glue around the band, then wrap string around the band several times. Tie off to finish, and you're ready for exploration and adventure!
Variation: Binoculars
Materials:
Paper towel tube, or two toilet paper tubes
Jewish Wedding: Breaking of the Glass Shalom Scrapper Paper
Jewish Baby Boy: Bris Footprints Shalom Scrapper Paper
Glue sticks
Scissors or paper trimmer
Twine, yarn, cord or string (about 1.5 yards per scope)
Directions:
1. Cut cardboard tube in half to create two equal length tubes, or use two toilet paper tubes instead. Cut paper to size and adhere around each tube as in step two for "Spotting Scope."
2. Put a line of glue down the length of one tube, by the seam of the patterned paper. Glue tubes together.
3. Cut a contrasting paper about 1" wide x 10". Glue one side of the paper, then wrap paper around tubes to create a single band around both of them.
4. Put a ring of glue around the band, then wrap string around the band several times. Tie off to finish, and you're ready for exploration and adventure!
Advanced option: Before attaching string around spotting scope or binoculars, tie a loop about 5" long at one end. When wrapping string, start wrapping with the end opposite the loop, and tie off tightly when you get to the loop knot. Now you've got a wristband to keep your spotting scope close at hand!

Autograph Book:
Create these keepsake autograph books filled with messages to keep your camp friends close during the long wait till next summer!
Materials:
Stars of David 1 Shalom Scrapper Paper, cut in half to 6"x12" size
Scraps of Star of David 2 Shalom Scrapper Paper
Scissors or paper trimmer
Stapler OR hole punch
Scraps of ribbon or string (see 'advanced option')
5-6 sheets of scrap notebook or printer papers, trimmed to 6" wide x 11.5" long
Gel pens, squeeze paints, paint pens, or magic markers
Glue sticks or liquid glue
Directions:
1. Fold 6"x12" sheet of paper in half, creating a 6" square.
2. Fold several notebook sheets in half. Insert pages into the folded patterned paper, making sure that the folds are all at the same edge. When sheets have been lined up, close the cover and staple 1/2" in from the fold on each side, and once in the middle. This forms the book.
3. Decorate the book by cutting designs out of the patterned papers and glueing them onto the book cover. A rectangle can be glued to the inside of the front cover to create a space for a name or dedication. Use markers or paints to finish decorating and write a book title or name on the cover. If using paints, allow sufficient time for drying.
Advanced option: Ribbon Binding Instead of stapling, each book may be bound with ribbon or strings instead.
1. After folding the cover but before inserting inside pages, measure 1/2" in from the fold, 1" from the edge of the book, and mark with a pencil. Repeat on the other side of the book.
2. Make a hole over each pencil mark, through both layers of patterned paper, using the hole punch.
3. Use the holes in the patterned paper as a pattern to make pencil marks on each folded sheet of inside paper, and punch holes where marked.
4. After all holes have been punched, insert papers. Line up all layers of holes by the fold, and tie a piece of ribbon through each hole to bind the book.
Advanced option two - Beading
Use longer ribbon for each tie, and string beads on the ends (knotting each end to keep the beads secure) for a super decorative touch!
